She's out of that motel for good!
We were blessed to make a delivery to another family in need through the Motel to Home program. The woman here, we will call her QA, moved to Atlanta from Macon after a job loss in search of more opportunity for herself and her children. This single mother of 3 children was able to find work, but low wages and limited job opportunities prevented her from securing stable housing. The children’s father abandoned them and has not provided any support.
For several years now she has had stable employment in the collections industry. Though she has completed high school and some college courses, she has limited financial literacy education. This has led to low credit scores, budgeting shortfalls, and higher expenses that led to her being evicted from her apartment. She and two of her children have been living at the Guest Inn on Peachtree Industrial since June of 2019.
QA has been an enthusiastic participant in the Motel to Home program. Working with her caseworker, she has been able to reduce her expenses and has begun to pay off some of her existing debt. With the program’s financial assistance with deposits and first month’s rent QA recently moved into a 3br/2 bath apartment in Norcross in her children’s school district. She left her motel with only a few bags of clothing.
Fully Furnished arrived the next day with furniture, bedding, and household supplies. Now her new apartment is the stable home she and her children have been hoping for. She recently obtained a higher paying full-time position with an automotive financing company earning $18/hr. with benefits and an option for overtime pay every two weeks. She has also applied for part-time employment with supplement her income. Her dream now is to build her savings to purchase her own home.
Join us in praying for QA as she continues to work hard to support her family and stay wise in her financial spending.
