New opportunities to serve
God is blessing us by growing our ministry this year, in a time of unusual circumstances. There is a greater need for us to help those in our community due to Covid-19 and we are thrilled to be stepping up and serving more. BUT that means we need more hands on deck to jump in and serve!
We have several BRAND NEW opportunities to serve with FFM and some oldies but goodies as well. Check them out and see if you or someone you know might be the perfect fit for giving of their time in these ways!
If interested, please contact John Dance at johnd@fullyfurnishedministries.org
1) Bilingual Volunteer – Are you fluent in Spanish? We are looking for an additional person(s) fluent in Spanish to help translate on behalf of Hispanic families in need of furniture. There are two (2) distinct needs relative to Spanish translation support:
- When furniture deliveries are being made to the homes of needy families, it is most helpful to have someone describe the process of the delivery, share safety protocols, and inquire as to other needs the families might have so that we can pray specifically for them.
- It is anticipated that when a referral for furniture comes to FFM, this volunteer could assist our Needs Assessor relative to details of the family's furniture needs, as well as collect pertinent demographic and availability details that would be helpful to us serving them better. Commitment is 2 Saturday mornings per month plus a possible extra 2-4 hours.
2) Storytelling Intern – Are you a high school or college student looking for job experience in the area of online communication and social media marketing? We are looking for a phone savvy photographer and videographer to capture stories! Commitment is 2 Saturdays per month and visiting our warehouse 2 other times per month (flexible schedule) for documenting stories, photos, videos, etc. to be used in communications items such as social media, emails, and donor letters. For more information, contact Pamela Ghaly at psgconsultant@gmail.com.
3) Donation Coordinator – Are you a detailed person with a bit of extra time to volunteer? We need a volunteer who will make phone calls, and or send emails/texts to families wanting to donate furniture to FFM to further ascertain specifics of furniture being donated, including types and sizes of furniture, as well as establish date and times for deliveries to be made. Once all furniture donors have been confirmed for pickup, the Donation Coordinator works with our FFM Operations Manager to finalize pickup schedules and account for special requests. Information gathered will be logged into our client management application. Commitment is 2-4 hours weekly.
4) Needs Assessor – Are you detailed and personable? We are looking for a volunteer to make phone calls, and or send emails/texts to identify families in need of furniture to further ascertain specific furniture needs, including types of furniture needed, sizes, colors, .... as well as establish date and times for deliveries to be made. Once it is determined what is needed, the Needs Assessor works with the FFM Operations Manager to determine specific furniture to be delivered. Information gathered will be logged into our client management application. Commitment is 2-4 hours weekly.
5) Furniture Movers – Do you enjoy serving others through hands on efforts? We are looking for more furniture movers for our planned workdays. 20 - 30 volunteers are needed to load/unload furniture on and off trucks. Volunteers must start on a Friday/Saturday morning at our FFM warehouse where furniture for needy families is loaded onto trucks. Volunteers then take furniture to needy families and unload at their homes. After this, the empty trucks are driven to furniture donors' homes to collect donations, which is then taken back to our warehouse and is unloaded and stored. 3-5 hours per workday.
6) Furniture Restoration Volunteer – Do you love working with your hands and fixing things up? Some of our furniture collected through donations is often in need of cleaning, mending, painting, or complete transformation. On Tuesday mornings at FFM warehouse, furniture in need of restoration are identified and appropriate steps are taken to bring old furniture to new life. No previous experience necessary. We may be expanding to Friday mornings as an option as well. Commitment is 3-4 hours per week.
